Supraorbital Keyhole Approach for Resection of Midbrain Tumor

This video demonstrates the utility of the eyebrow craniotomy to perform a biopsy of a midbrain tumor in a patient with favorable anatomy.  The addition of endoscopy allows for clear visualization of the relevant anatomy of the brainstem, vasculature and cranial nerves.  The use of low-profile and single-shaft instruments allows for proper and safe dissection in this region. This approach can be useful to access the anterior superior brainstem, though may be contraindicated in the setting of a high-riding posterior clinoid process or tight Sylvian fissure. Surgery performed by Dr. Garni Barkhoudarian and Dr. Daniel Kelly.
